Hydrogen & Carbon Capture Synergies: Accelerating Baltic-German Cooperation

As part of the Hydrogen Technology World Expo 2025 in Hamburg, a dedicated satellite event will unite researchers, innovators, industry leaders, and policymakers from Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, and Germany to explore the synergies between hydrogen and carbon capture technologies. This networking and matchmaking gathering will take place at the Hamburg Messe und Congress on 21 October 2025, from 10:00 to 13:30 CET

The event is jointly supported by partners from the Baltic States and Germany and is designed to strengthen cross-border collaboration, aligning with the objectives of the European Green Deal and Horizon Europe. By highlighting national innovation ecosystems, presenting funding opportunities, and fostering dialogue, it aims to build bridges between science, business, and policy communities.

Participants will discuss emerging developments in hydrogen and carbon capture, with a strong focus on strategic opportunities under the Clean Hydrogen Joint Undertaking and Horizon Europe Cluster 5 (Climate, Energy, and Mobility). The programme will include national presentations, an interactive Idea Lab to facilitate matchmaking and consortium building, and a networking reception.

Highlights of the Day:

  • Overview of the Clean Hydrogen Joint Undertaking funding programme – Mirela Atanasiu, Head of Communication and Operations, Clean Hydrogen JU.
  • Presentations of national ecosystems – Representatives from Lithuania, Germany, Latvia, and Estonia will share experiences and planned projects in the hydrogen and CCS/CCUS sectors.
  • Interactive Ideas Lab – A dynamic session connecting representatives from research, industry, and policy sectors in Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, and Germany. Participants will explore upcoming work programme topics, develop project ideas, and initiate international consortia aligned with Clean Hydrogen JU and Horizon Europe Cluster 5 themes.
  • Informal networking session – A great opportunity to establish contacts and strengthen partnerships between the Baltic States and Germany.

Information for Participants:

Registered participants will receive a special template by email, which should be completed and returned by 20 October. This form is intended to present your organisation and/or research area.

The submitted one-pagers will be used during the Ideas Lab to facilitate participant introductions, partner matchmaking, and consortium building. After the event, all submitted one-pagers (in PDF format) will be shared with all participants.

We warmly invite Baltic and German scientists, innovators, industry representatives, and policymakers to join this networking opportunity in Hamburg and to contribute to shaping the future of European cooperation in clean hydrogen and carbon capture technologies.
