The Germany-Lithuania Energy Synergy Day as part of Berlin Science Week 2024, uniting Lithuanian and German researchers, innovators, and industry leaders to explore the latest advancements in energy technologies.  For the first time, this key bilateral event is organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in Germany, the Research Council of Lithuania, Project Management Jülich, and Berlin Partner für Wirtschaft und Technologie GmbH Enterprise Europe Network Berlin-Brandenburg. The event will take place at the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in Germany, Berlin, on November 4th, 2024, from 13:00 to 18:00 CET. It aims to foster collaboration between the two nations, aligning with Horizon Europe's objectives of advancing the Green Deal, enhancing European competitiveness, and promoting sustainable innovation.

Participants will engage in the discussion on the groundbreaking developments in energy research, focusing on areas such as battery technologies, renewable energy sources, energy-efficient buildings, and hydrogen technologies. The event provides a valuable platform for experts to exchange knowledge, forge new partnerships, and collaborate on innovative solutions to Europe’s pressing energy challenges.

The day will feature:

  • Welcome Speeches from H. E. Giedrius Puodžiūnas, Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to Germany, and Dr. Gintaras Valinčius, Chairman of the Research Council of Lithuania. A representative from Forschungszentrum Jülich will also address the audience.
  • Presentation by Dr. Maik Scholz, German National Contact Point for Climate, Energy, Mobility from Project Management Jülich, offering an overview of Horizon Europe’s funding opportunities for energy research.
  • Success Stories showcasing German-Lithuanian research collaborations, including projects such as the Sustainable Glass Industry with Fuel-Flexible Technology (GIFFT), coordinated by the Lithuanian Energy Institute, and a second presentation from the Helmholtz Center Berlin on the Pilot Line for European Production of PEROvskite-Silicon Tandem Modules on an Industrial Scale project.
  • Panel Discussion on “Shaping Europe’s Energy Future Together: Synergies in Energy Innovation Between Lithuania and Germany” featuring representatives from various sectors, including the Lithuanian Ministry of Energy, the Lithuanian Energy Institute, and German experts.
  • Networking Session titled “Energizing Partnerships” where Lithuanian and German researchers and innovators will use the World Café method to address energy challenges in thematic areas such as battery technologies, renewable energy sources, energy efficiency, and clean hydrogen.

We are inviting scientists from leading Lithuanian institutions like Kaunas University of Technology, the Lithuanian Energy Institute, Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, Klaipėda University and the Center for Physical Sciences and Technology (FTMC). Representatives from prominent companies, including SoliTek, SBA Group, the Lithuanian Hydrogen Energy Association, and the Klaipėda State Seaport Authority, will also attend. We anticipate a Lithuanian delegation of 15-20 participants.

  • A special form for completing your profile will be sent to registered participants via email.
  • Registered participants are expected to prepare a brief profile presentation (one-pager) by October 20th.
